Seeing Stars
by Roan on February 15th, 2010 (No Comments)
We are seeing stars today on the eve of our one month anniversary with the arrival of Derek Lam Spring 2010. It’s so unbelievably sophistacted and gorgeous. And we have a certain facebook friend jonesing for one of his infamous rouched jersey dresses. You know who you are KB so get here queek! And for all you chocoholics out there, Valentine’s candy is half price at For the Love of Chocolate. The wrapper’s coming off anyway, right?
Let’s get those kids back in school and get back to the important matters of the world, styling and shopping.
Loss of Genius
by Roan on February 11th, 2010 (No Comments)
The true genius in fashion is so rare and today, so tragically, we lost one. Alexander McQueen will forever be one of our most inspired designers and will influence young talent for generations. Will anyone ever blend fine British tailoring with whimsical art so seamlessly ever again, don’t know. I just know the world of fashion will deeply miss Lee. Today we think of happily flitting butterflies and we remember the joy of the great Alexander McQueen.
Snow Daze

Another snowy day in Richmond but thanks to all of our “cabin fever friends” we are wide open and living the dream, snuggling down with new deliveries from Stella McCartney, Yigal Azrouel and All Dressed Up. And we just received our first shipment from Halston Heritage. It’s a kaleidescopic collection of dresses, tops and evening pieces based on the clean drapey lines from Halston’s archives. The oh so approachable collection is everpresent on the body of Sarah Jessica Parker in the upcoming Sex and the City sequel. So it may be cold outside but its hot up in hear! Props to our chic friend Tara Elgie for turning us onto Donna the Buffalo, perfect snowday tunes.

Roan wasn’t built in a day. It took 119 days. We love the soul of our new hood and the vibe of our fresh space. Richmond’s home of chic is now wide open. So we are calling all Roanies to come get your fabulous on! Thanks to all that contributed your time, effort, style, sweat and warm wishes during our transition. Fashion is alive… at Roan.
Hello Roanie!

I know many of you are asking “where are you going and what are you doing to my Coplon’s?” So as we move into our new ultra groovy location and begin a new era in fashion in Richmond, it’s important that all our fans know the who, the where and the why. The WHO is us…all your favorite friends from Coplon’s, Lisa, Edina, Farrar, Jennifer, Todd, Kim, Suhaila, Ann, Muffy and Hank, and of course our associates Oscar de la Renta, Christian Louboutin, Lela Rose, Alexander Wang and the like. The WHERE is 3142 West Cary Street Road in Carytown-Richmond, Va. where the energy, soul and sense of community is unparalleled in our region. Cary Court has some our favorite stores like Pink, Philosophie, For the Love of Chocolate (danger danger) and Schwarzschild’s, not to mention the super yummy and happening bistro Can Can. With me so far?
Now the WHY. Why not! It just feels right, like a pair of pumps that feels like it was made for your foot. It liberates us to be exactly who we want to be and allows us to fully show you what we stand for. We stand for style, we stand for substance and we stand for soul. We thrive on the evolution of fashion, the newness of everyday, and the exhilaration that comes with styling and serving our clients. So why not create the perfect environment to suit our mission; which is to offer the most comprehensive selection of world class ready to wear, shoes and accessories in the region, carefully edited to the exacting tastes of our clients who are our friends. Our new store will be curated with a mix that will never lack inspiration, will always be full of surprises and will consistently be the realization of our clients’ dreams. Because fashion for each of us is a series of moments, some serious, some hilarious, some timeless…and that is the essence of the complexity and simplicity of Roan. Roan is a realm of color, pattern and texture that is never the same, never dulls, and has unlimited possibilities.
So welcome Roanies. Its time to make the most of our moments, its time to play.
