Carole Tanenbaum was born and raised in New York and now resides in Toronto, Canada. She switched careers twenty years ago from the world of corporate art to the world of fashion, specifically, vintage costume jewelry. Her trained and critical eye helped her to cultivate a stellar selection of over 20,000 pieces, forming a cohesive collection which is now known worldwide. Her vast inventory includes such greats as Dior, Chanel, Lanvin and Sherman. Every piece is hand selected with an eye for design, creativity, strength and exceptional workmanship.
As a world-renowned collector, Carole has given a series of lectures on vintage costume jewelry at the Royal Ontario Museum, the International Society of Appraisers, and is often called upon for her expertise in the field. Fabulous Fakes: A Passion for Vintage Costume Jewelry, the book featuring Carole Tanenbaum’s extraordinary personal collection is available at all major book stores. Wherever she goes, she is on the hunt for the next great WOW factor in accessories. In her own way, Carole has transformed vintage jewelry into wearable art, of which she is the curator.
