A.L.C.

“I’m wary of making anything that can’t be packed. Or, to put it another way, I want to make clothes that a woman wouldn’t dream of leaving behind.”
Andrea Lieberman dreamt of being a designer her whole life. She studied fashion at the Parsons School of Design and spent three years traveling in Paris and Africa, which she would later use as inspiration for her designs. Life lead her in a different direction, however, when she “fell into” styling. For a decade she styled dozens of celebrities and for a decade she learned how she could fill a void in the fashion marketplace. Lieberman says, “as a stylist, you develop a healthy sense of what’s missing in the marketplace, and personally, I always seem to be on the hunt for those kinds of quieter pieces. For whatever reason, those seem to be the hardest ones to find, especially at a price point that doesn’t make your eyes jump out of your head.”
In 2005, she collaborated with Mouawad and designed a line of jewelry. Extensive travels in Africa influenced her to create a unique line of culturally conscious jewelry. She wanted to design for those people “who appreciate the ’soul’ of adornment.” In 2009, her dream of becoming a designer finally came true when she debuted her line A.L.C. for Andrea Lieberman Collection.
