Giambattista Valli
“Italian spontaneous attitude mixed with French couture. Caviar et T-shirt! Pizza et haute couture! They are part of a generation regaining its femininity. They have turned the proportions of their mothers’ couture gowns into party dresses.” – Giambattista Valli in Harper’s Bazaar.
Born and raised in Rome, Giambattista Valli was influenced by his Roman roots, the movies of Antioni and inspired by the discovery of French fashion through the watercolors of Yves Saint Laurent. In 1987, he attended Central St. Martin’s School of Arts in London. Returning to Italy, he worked in the studio of Roberto Capucci. After two years, the Fendi family called him to oversee the newly born Fendissime line. Travelling resetlessly between collection, he filled his imagination and mind continuously with many influences. In 1997, he moved to Paris and headed the design studio of Emanuel Ungaro. Finally, in 2005, Giambattista launched his own collection and held his first solo show in Paris. Today, his collection is sold in 45 countries. A very international, glamorous, sophisticated crowd of young, beautiful jwomen have rapidly endorsed his talent by wearing his clothes. Among them the likes of Penelope Cruz, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jessica Biel, Natalie Portman, Halle Berry, Brooke Shields, and Her Majesty Rania of Jordan.
