Givenchy

“The dress must follow the body of a woman, not the body following the shape of the dress.”
Born in 1927, Hubert James Taffin de Givenchy grew up in Beauvais. As soon as he turned seventeen, he moved to Paris to study under the most coveted courturiers and to attend the ecole des Beaux-Arts. In 1954, Hubert de Givenchy was the first major fashion designer to present a luxury ready-to-wear line. For decades, Givenchy has epitomized quality, elegance and lady like fashion. He dressed some of the world’s most fashionable women including Lauren Bascall, Babe Paley, Greta Garbo, Elizabeth Taylor, Jacqueline Kennedy-Onassis, Princess Grace and Audrey Hepburn. Who could forget her gorgeous Givenchy gown from Breakfast at Tiffany’s? Today, Givenchy is under the direction of Italian designer, Riccardo Tisci.
