Stuart Weitzman

“Designing is one thing, a thing that just came naturally to me. But I think my greatest asset as far as the manufacturing is concerned is that I’m a really good shoe engineer. That’s something I had to learn. When I was a kid, my father forced me to sit alongside our old Italian pattern maker, and I learned last making, pattern making and shoe making for several years. So I’ve always been a shoemaker, never a wholesaler.”
With over 300 designs in every collection and two collections a year, Stuart Weitzman designs a little something for everyone. Since founding the company in 1986, Stuart Weitzman has grown into a globally recognized brand. Growing up, he worked in his father’s shoe factory in Massachusetts and started to design for Seymour Shoes in the 1950s. Weitzman graduated from Wharton School of Business in 1963 and when Seymour Weitzman died in 1965, Stuart took over the business with his older brother. They sold their business to a company in Spain in 1972; however, Stuart bought it back in 1994. Over the past sixteen years, Stuart Weitzman has become a world wide phenomenon. In 2002, Weitzman started the tradition of designing a special shoe to be worn by a starlet on Oscar night. This one of a kind shoe is always adorned with precious stones including diamonds, rubies and emeralds. No matter your shoes needs, Stuart Weitzman will have a shoe for you.
